Casale Castellano offers one of the most evocative views over the town of Roccaporena and gives the impression that it is possible to touch the misterious Sacred Rock of Santa Rita.

At Casale Castellano to the northwest of the plateau of Ocosce numerous archaeological finds have been discovered: altars and square blocks and a funeral altar made of local limestone with an incomplete inscription, because when it was re-used as a water tank, a hollow was made on the right-hand side and the hole for the water to come out is right in the centre of the inscribed face. 

The plateau is studded all over with sunken walls which suggest that people already lived here before Cascia was urbanised. The hamlet stands on a quadrangular platform and the terracing to the west is polygonal with brickwork parts, of which only one row of stones actually emerges above ground with a floor made of small blocks of local limestone. It appears to have been one of many, very old enclosures that can be found in the entire area.
